Israel, What Purpose Does This Serve?
Israel is a nation that is celebrating its 60th anniversary but in reality represents a timeless civilization that has survived countless tragedies and overcome incredible challenges. They are presently embroiled in a difficult security crisis that has been ongoing since the 1980’s and shows conflicting signs of abating and worsening any time its analyzed.
Israeli children have been butchered by suicide bombers and terrorists, Israeli towns and cities attacked with murderous rockets and bombs and Israel’s good name dragged through the mud on a regular basis by spiteful enemies around the world. Dare it be mentioned Israel faces hostile neighbors who have yet to rescind pledges to destroy it.
None of that excuses this however.
US Forced To Withdraw Fulbright Grants to Gaza
The American State Department has withdrawn all Fulbright grants to Palestinian students in Gaza hoping to pursue advanced degrees at American institutions this fall because Israel has not granted them permission to leave.
Its self-defeating, harming the futures of some of the very Palestinian moderates Israel will need to work with in the future.
Lastly, Is respect for American interests that low in Israel too? This is a slap in the face to America.

Indeed. That the Palestinians are enemies remains to be seen IMHO.
Hamas & Islamic Jihad perhaps, but not the Palestinians themselves.
Not so much a slap in the face as an act of proposed self interest. That it flies in the face of reason is another matter. The Israeli’s seem to be under the obligatory sense of kinetic might. Shows of force will humble the unruly Pal’s. They’ve, thus far, largely ignored the process of Palestine coming to be a state and the west has enabled this folly.

I remain appalled at the stupidity of all sides! Just to pick on the Izzies because the Palestinians and Americans have already gotten their fair share this year, they are held hostage by this tiny minority of crazies (and they are, these Orthodox nutjobs who think stealing land and settling it will bring the end times closer) who seem to do whatever, regardless of what the State thinks or the populace decides.
