The Meme Of Seven

1. Hosted my own “soul music” radio show from 0900-1000 on USS Abraham Lincoln radio for all of 2 days last year until I broke the rules and played a Sam Cooke song (”Bring It On Home To Me”…it was decreed we could only play the songs provided to us for free by several record labels). For the uninitiated, Sam Cooke is to soul as The Beatles are to rock.

2. Volunteered at an AIDS hospice during my first run at college and pricked myself twice with HIV-positive needles yet by the grace of God avoided the worst.

3. Considers Miss Marple the greatest detective in literary history.

4. Has attended 14 weddings since proposing to my girlfriend last February.

5. I hold the USS Kitty Hawk IM-4 (Support Equipment Division) Berthing Boxing record for quickest TKO… I was knocked out cold in less than 30 seconds into the first round by my undistinguished opponent Bill M…. and the ensuing laughter from the dozens of onlookers apparently almost got us all caught by the evening’s patrol of the Navy’s equivalent of MP’s… MA’s (Master at Arms… wanna be Marines).

6. Played 3 on 3 basketball on the flight deck in the Indian Ocean on a makeshift basket consisting of a FUBAR aircraft towbar, jerry-rigged nonskid drum and aircraft chains.

7. To this day still finds Zoroastrianism an incredibly compelling faith.
